Find Your Voice and Speak Out Loud! Print E-mail

Matthew Boehm, Senior EditorRecently, someone said to me, “Go out and find your voice. Speak it out loud, and others will listen.” At the time, I remember wondering where my voice had gone. Had I not been speaking all along? I was a professional communicator; I taught others how to write with style. Fancying myself a wordsmith, I was shocked to discover that my thoughts and ideas might sound generic and clichéd – as though my voice were somehow not my own. If I did have another, truer voice somewhere within, how would I go about finding it?

The answer, I discovered, was to trust myself. That day, I realized that, whatever their form of communication, most people struggle to find and to trust their own voice. Even more people struggle to reconcile that voice with the demands of their daily lives. It’s a problem as old as America itself: in 1841, Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote that “To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart, is true for all men, - that is genius.” Sadly, we have learned to devalue our own genius in favor of a more practical voice, especially in terms of business communication. Many of us have forgotten how to trust our inner voice and have learned to trust custom and tradition instead.

Here at Live2create™, our mission is to rekindle that original spirit of genius, not only in ourselves but also in our clients. We believe that people who learn to trust themselves, to speak with confidence, and to act on their beliefs are successful in whatever endeavor they pursue. Whether your genius speaks in the language of art, business, politics, or service, we at Live2Create want to help you find and develop your unique voice. Let us help you to speak out loud!
